***********This drawing is now CLOSED!!!!*************
**********Thanks for joining in on the fun!!!************
Ok everyone, remember I said I was going to do a celebration give away?? Well, here we go. The only thing is, don't tell anyone. I want this give away to be for my regular readers only. (Except you gals are way above regular....you're outstanding!!!!!!!) That way, there will be a better chance that YOU will win!!!
This give away is in celebration of my upcoming and highly anticipated role as "grandma" or some version of that word. Yes, I am going to be a grandmother and I'm tickled pink....or in this case, BLUE!!! He's a boy. Yay!
So here is what you could win......
A group of 10 Moda fat quarters and three different colors of ric rac, red, blue and pink to match the fabrics. And, some lovely foody items. Ghirardelli Chocolate Raspberry Coffee, Chocolate Chip Biscotti and Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate with Mint.
Here is a better look at the fabric, cause we know that's what this drawing is all about, right???
Dear Daughter in Law and I have discussed what the baby should call me. I have no idea. Part of me says wait and see what the baby wants to call me, but Dear DIL said I can't go for one year without a name until the baby learns to talk. Hmmmm....good point DIL!! LOL So, let's hear your ideas....and remember I'm a young grandmother, at least that's what I'm telling myself!!
All you have to do is leave a comment sharing a version of the word Grandmother that you have heard of or have used. Things like Granny, Oma, MeeMee, etc.
I will draw one name on Friday, the 22nd. I have no idea what time or anything, but you can comment up until the time I actually draw the name, but don't wait. I have no idea when I'll draw....it might be 1:00 a.m. Friday morning!!!
Happy Quilting!!!!!!!!! And, good luck!

I wont give any suggestion except for my swedish name for Grandma..since I dont live in the USA.. hope that is alright.. it could be totally and hopelessly wrong..:o)Take care..:o)
Morning, I would pick Nana its great for a young Grandmother.
I am Grammy. It makes my heart just MELT when a little voice says my name! Being a grandmother is the best thing. You will LOVE it!!
Congratulations! If I'm lucky enough to be a grandma one day, I want to be called Gindy. It's a name that my dad always called me. Why? I dunno but I think it will a faboo grandma name *S*
Throw my name in the hat... When I'm a grandmother one day... I want to be called Grams....simple ...easy... Grams....
Gosh this is lame because I really don't need the fat quarters and ric rac but would LOVE the chocolate and I really just had to say that Mamma(w) is the best name ever. :)
The only name I know besides grandma is nana. Congratulations! :0)
I don't have married children yet, but when I am blessed with grandchildren, I hope to be called just simply "Grandma." I don't need a cute name, just this wonderful title I look forward to hearing! Love the giveaway items - and absolutely love your hexagons. Beautiful! dsb448@att.net
My little Sweet Pea calls me Grandma, but a friend once told me that her family always called their grandma "Sweetheart"!! Isn't that just adorable. I can hear the little cherub voices calling out "Sweetheart" as they come through the house!! Congrats on the blessing!
Congratulations on a grandbaby on the way. They are so much fun to spoil and love. I called my grandma - Brammy, guess I couldn't do the g's. I also like GeeGee and i have a friend who is Gammie. Whatever you are called you will love hearing it.
Congratulations on your future grandchild! I became a grandma a little over a year ago. You are going to love being a grand! :D I asked to be called granny, but my son and his girlfriend both objected. So, I am now Grandma Jane. This is actually very appropriate, as I was named after my great-grandma Janie.
Congratulations Grandma! My children always called their grandmother "Me-Ma". I really don't know how that started, but they now just call her Grandma :-) I'm sure a lot will depend on what the baby starts calling you.
I'm all for a giveaway. Thanks for sharing.
Mary
How cute and clever! A baby-themed giveaway ... congratulations Grandma! Grandkids are the bestest! :o)
Oops, forgot to add that my grandson calls me "Nana." Love him to bits. :o)
Oops, I forgot to name the Grandma. We just called our Grandmas, Grandma. Hope that helps.
Mary
Well, of course my Russian grandmothers were called "babushka".
Congratulations!
When my grandson was born last April I decided to be called Dema in honor of my grandmother. When my niece (who is now 26) was learning to talk Grandma came out as Dema and the name stuck. Dema was a special grandma and I can only hope to be as good as she was.
Congrats on the grandchild!
Congrats! Before my grandson could say Gramma he called me Ga. It was not long before he could say Gramma. I will never forget hearing that the first time I came into the room after he learned it. His mom told him Ga was for the G in Gramma.
Congratulations on becoming a grandma! You are going to love it! Esp. the 1st time his face lights up when he sees yours-you'll be over the moon! My oldest grandchild is 4 the younest is 7 months-both boys with 2 girls in the middle- 3 1/2 and 2. They call me "Mimi" and I love it!
I'm so happy for you!!! In Norway it is common to say BESTEMOR. Directly translated in meens "the very best mother". My three girls are students so I have to wait a little bit before I can call myself Bestemor!! But I'm looking forward to be one some day :-)
The very best for you, the parents-to-be and the baby :-)
Hugs from a winterly Norway!!
Congratulations!
My friend is young and her grand-daughter calls her Nana. I've also heard others use Mimi. That sounds pretty.
I think I'd like to be called MeMe when I have grandkids. Or GG. I like Grammy as well. Someone I know called their grandmother Honey which I thought was just precious!
Whatever you're called, it's going to be special coming from your grandson! :)
Congrats...
I personally like nana.
No grankids for us yet (we're still in our 30's!) but I hope my kids will have their kids call my husband and I "Grandy" and "Grammy" :) My mom is Grammy to my kids and my dad is Papa. My inlaws are Grandma and Grandaddy. It's so funny how many different names mean the same! :)
Congrats!
congratulations:)
I'm all for a giveaway.
my Polish grandmothers were called "BABCIA":)

Thank you for the fabulous giveaway - in Sri Lanka depending on your race you could pick Archo or Apamma (the second one means father's mother)!

Congratulations on the great news!! My little ones call their grandmothers Bubbe and Nana. I have always called my grandmother "mo". Why? She wanted to be called "Gammo" and my grandfather to be called "Gampo" but all my little mouth could form was "Mo" and "Po" (I was their first grandchild) and that is what they are called to this day by their grandchildren and great-grandchildren :)
Enter me in! My step-daughter just got married and I have been thinking along the same lines. I am only 34 so I don't think Grandma is appropriate yet. All my kids call my Mom, Grammy, and I like it because it is simple and doesn't sound too old. My sister's kids call their inlaw-grandparents, Mom-mom & Pop, which is interesting. ANyway, it's a blessing to have grandchildren and I hope you will get to spend a lot of time with them!
Gramma has a nice ring to it! And he'll be a lucky little boy with such a good Gramma!
Congratulations on a grandson! I have 2 suggestions: Gran or Nanna. Whatever, he calls you will be special. Take care!
Congratulation on Been a New Grandmother well my youngest Grandson calls me G mama so good luck in finding a name, so i think G mama is a good one

Some of our greats call their grandmother by "Maw". And since I'm not accumulating fabric or chocolate these days please give my "chance" to the next comment after mine.
P.S. Congrats!
Congrats on the grandbaby!
I love that my hubby calls his Grandma *Gammy*.
My friends growing up were Croatian and called their grandma "Baba"
My grandmother;s were both called Nanny. I love that
I've also heard of grandmother's being called "gigi"...
Congratulations on soon becoming a grandma. Nothing much better. My 5 grandkids call me grandma. Sure warms my heart when I hear it. (grin) Winona
Paula MUCH CONGRATS! to you and all of your dear family! What a Sweet Giveaway too! I think "Nana" is so nice for a young Gramma. Thanks so much for sharing! Love,Linda

Oh, you lucky, lucky woman. Grandmotherhood is such a fun time in a woman's life. My first little granddaughter started calling me "Grammy" but when the others came (from different families) they all called me "Grandma" so that's what they all call me now. I'm so happy for you!
I'm salivating -- over the chocolate and the fabric.

Congrats! My Mom always wanted to be a Granny, as she said Granny's are spunky and fiery. My MIL is going to be Meemaw (sp?) - it's what her Mom was, and she wants to be, too. Good luck finding the right name for you!
Jess
Congratulations on the grand baby. I like the name Mimi. My MIL nickname is that. She thought that was a better nickname and much easier for a child to pronuce and that is what everyone now calls her, although her name is Faye. We also gave my FIL the nick name PaPa (pronouced Paw Paw). Go figure. Be ready to spoil until your DIL can't stand it. HA HA.
CONGRATULATIONS!! Becoming a grandmother is so exciting. Think of all the spoiling you get to do now!
My favorite grandmother's name is Mima .. its pronounced MeeMaw .. and is what my daughter calls her grandmother.
Grammy is a close second though.
Congrats again. Can't wait to see pics of your gorgeous grandson.

Okay, enough already, you're temping me with that Ghiradelli...LOL
All right, all right - the fabric too. LOL AND - the rick rack.
And, BTW, I am referred to as "Mimi" by our 5 and 7 year old grandchildren. No, I didn't pick that name out. We were orginally G-Ma and G-pa. Say "G" and the Ma or Pa with it.
"I" was the one who started that because the first Christmas having a grandchild - I got tired of writing out "From - Grandpa and Grandma" on the Christmas Present Tags. So I shortened it to G-pa and G-ma.
That was fine until our first grandchild learned to talk. He called us Papa and Mimi - entirely on his own - out of nowhere.
We've remained Papa and Mimi ever since.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it....LOL
Paula,
Congratulations!
I first became
"Grammie" when I was 39.....and I really didn't want my title to sound too ancient....our little honey lived 14 1/2 months and then she left for Heaven. When our little grandson came 20 months ago my daughter asked me if I still wanted to be "Grammie".....and I told her I have never stopped.....
you will love it....a great reason for celebrating with a give-a-way. :)
Congrats! My kids call their grandma "MeMe"
Congratulations. I like "Grandma".

My nephew invented (as are as we know) Magah. My Mom likes it. It has caught on with the other grandchildren.
And, I would love to win this giveaway. The fabrics are so cheery, whatever you decide to call yourself. :)
Hey Paula: I like the lovely "Grandma" for the title. Since I've had children, I have heard all sorts of names kids call their grandparents, and I really don't know who they are talking about at first. If the little one says, "Grandma Paula," everyone know just what he means. Way down the road, I plan on being "Gramma Mish," just as I am Auntie Mish to all the nieces and nephews and Mish-the-Dish to my old college friends! (Just remembering the old days!) -- michele
Grammie--the person who knew me at that innermost soul level and passed me the quilting gene. I miss her.
Congratulations! I remember the excitement we shared when expecting our first grandbaby. Now, our ninth is due in the spring! I always thought Oma was so much prettier than Granny or Memere (french), so that's what I am. Only one of the eight had trouble with pronouncing it; he's in speech therapy now :) Omie is also flattering.
I was blessed to have a grandson first also. Always thought I would want to be called Grammie, but what HE decided and could say was Nana. Now both he and his baby sister call me that and I love it. They live close and we have such fun!!
Congratulations.
Oh, how wonderful! I know you are excited! I became a grandmother a week before I turned 50. I had always called my grandmother "Grandmother" and my daughter always called my Mom "Grandmother" so she said that I would be "Grandmother." He worked very hard at it, and said Gmama at first and then finally "Grandmama" and so Grandmama I still am. He's 8 now. It's so wonderful! How about "Grandmama"...it works well for me!
Love your Give-away! I'll be on pins and needles (pun intended) to hear if I win!
Marie
Congratulations. I too became a grandmother at a young age (I think). I thought grandma and nana sounded too "old" for me so I chose Mimi. I like it though it is harder to find "what happens at Mimi's stays at Mimi's" paraphenilia.
Our family has Mimaw, Nowie (she likes things now), Grandma and Mamaw...
A little Wy will certainly make a decision based on his own creativity, inherited from two amazing parents and two sets of amazing grandparents!
Rhonda S.
My grandkids call me Grammy and another grandma of some of these kids are call Gamma. My kids always call my mom Mimi. There sure are a lot of nicknames that mean grandma, aren't there.
Congrats to your grand-baby!! I can share how we called my grandma. I am not sure where it came from, but sure all of the grandchildren called her that. It was "mamama".
Hey Mrs. Wychopen,
Christina Herzog here...I will go ahead and list what our parents are called...
My mom (Peggy) Mamageese
My dad (Carl) Papa Carl
Stephen's mom (Nancy) Mo
Stephen's dad (George)Paw Paw
I knew you weren't interested in the men's names, but just in case Mr. Wychopen is interested...there you go. You could be something like...MamaP...MamaWY...GrannieP...My mom (since her youngest is only 2 years older than our oldest) she didn't want to be something to old sounding, and din't want our kids getting confused and calling her mama, or her kids calling her an older sounding grandmother name. Anyway, congratulations to you! Christina Herzog
Congratulations! I can't wait to have a grandbaby! How generous to celebrate your great news with your quilt blogger friends by giving away some luscious fabric!
My preference is to be called "Nana"...easy to say for a little one, and it has so many positive memories for me of my Nana, whom I am named after. I definately don't want "granny"..."Oma" or "grandma" would be my next choices.
Congrats on your soon to be grandmother status - very exciting! I have two boys and they call my MIL Grammy. We love it, and it is so nice to have a special name they have for just her, since my mom is plain grandma. What a blessing for you to have to make such choices!!
I would love to win. Thanks.

Grammy works best for me. My oldest granddaughter calls me MiMa tho & I love that too.
Thanks for the drawing . . . I hope I'm not too late! I hope I can be a Gramma some day! Happy Day to you!
Congratulations! I like 'Nana'.
Oh how I wish I had a little one to spoil! Congratulation Grandma!
If I where a Grandmother...it wouldn't matter what the precious darling called me. I called my Grandmother, Gramma. :)
My nephew called his grandma MeMa. We have no idea where he got it but his own special name would light her face up.
Have fun ;-}
Frances.campbell@ns.sympatico.ca
I hope someday to be called Nana. My mom chose to be called Maw Maw by all her grandchildren. She is still living, so I wanted something different. Congratz on the soon to be grandbaby!
Since you are a younger woman, I would go with Gram so that way you still get the respect and recognition you deserve while out and about with the little one!
