This week, my focus has been the Easy Spider Web blocks, and guess what? It does work. I've been going into the sewing room each day, determined to make at least one block. Last night I made lots of quarter squares and then went back into the sewing room this morning and finished up. All 20 blocks are done!!! Hooray!!
I really love this pattern and I like the way the blocks have turned out. I am not adding a border to this quilt. I think I like it just as it is. The only thing is that I like it so well, that I really want to put it on my bed. It's not big enough as it is, so I would have to make more blocks to do that. Mentally, I think I'm really done with this quilt, and I don't think I want to make another 10 blocks, but will I regret it, if I don't do it??? I can always fold it at the foot of my bed and enjoy it that way. (I have a double bed....Dear Hubby is in the hospital twin.)
So, what do you think??? Should I go ahead and make the 10 additional blocks?? Sigh.....I was really enjoying the idea of being done. Advice, please.
Happy Quilting!!!!!!!!!!

I love the quilt - the scrappiness really makes it stand out. Congrats on sticking with it and doing a little each day - that takes devotion! I vote to skip the other 10. That way if you decide you want to use it as a lap quilt it won't be too big. It looks like it could become a favorite to snuggle under!
Ha! I say make the 10! That way, the quilt is seen so much more spread across the bed; just something to make you smile each time you see it! I have a spiderweb in my future!
You have made a lovely quilt top. All I can say is 10 more blocks require more quilting as well as piecing. I'd vote to be done.
what is the quilt it would replace on your bed? Do you like it more? or would you have different quilts depending on the season or whatever... Sure is pretty! I like the light stars that stand out ... BTW, Happy New Year!
Ok so I'm torn as I know what it feels like to just want to be done! Then again if I really wanted it on my bed I would probably do the extra 10 blocks (at least it's only for a double, we have a queen and to make a quilt for that seems HUGE!) So since I've been no help at all...Great job on the quilt!
If it were me I'd do the extra 10 blocks ..... why? Because I'd be afraid that once it's quilted I'd then regret the decision not to spend the time doing the extra blocks. Those blocks look great - I've enjoyed watching your quick progress.
I would make the 10 blocks. My thoughts are, you can snuggle under a larger quilt, but you can't put a smaller quilt on your bed (except as a fold over at the foot). It is easier to make the ten and then be done than to have to make a whole other quilt because you really wanted one for your bed.
BUT...it is your decision.
Why don't you put the quilt away for a couple of weeks-----I think by then you will feel up to making 10 more blocks. It is a beautiful quilt and I think you will always be happy you made it larger. Don't think I ever made a quilt I though was too large, but have made several that were too small.
Wait a couple of days to see whether or not you want to do more. Follow that instinct!
Are you sure you don't want borders? I'm thinking a narrow light color and then a pieced border and then the light color again. But that's just me...I have a thing for borders! LOL
I really love your quilt. It is so colorful with loads of movement. Great job! And I like the no border idea.
You just know when your done and I think you are done. You've done a great job on this one!!
Ilove this pattern, always wanted to make it ....

That is a tough one! If you really feel done with the quilt, it will feel like hard work to crank out the other 10 blocks. If you really want it to be larger, I'd add a couple of borders.
It is gorgeous as is though!
10 more blocks, your going to be sorry down the road that you didn't make it large enough for your bed.
I have been there!
take a week off then go back to making the extra 10 blocks if you need it

How long did it take you to make the 20 blocks that you have? 10 more is 50% more. Sounds like a lot to me. I would put the top away for awhile and listen to what it has to say to you. Quilts will usually tell us how big they want to be. This one might be quite happy being the size it is now so that you can get on with other things.
Go for it. I'm going to make mine big enough for a double or queen. Love doing this and I work on it here and there and thanks to you, I found out about it. Enjoy!! You blocks look fabulous...

I almost always make huge quilts, but love making the smaller ones recently. One thing about lap size though - I usually add an extra row for length because I am tall and I luck to tuck my feet under. Make it a size that works for you - I often make double sized quilts and put them cross wise on my queen bed with big pillow shams - that might be another idea for you! It is beautiful. Cheers!
