I'm back

and I survived.

I saw the same dentist who did the work when I was younger. He remembered that it was difficult to deaden me. I reminded him that I passed out too. LOL

So, he did a great job. It took several shots to deaden me. But, I was comfortable. Yeah!! I mean, as comfortable I as I could be!

So he discovered the reason for the broken tooth. My teeth ARE great. Only one small cavity on another tooth. The tooth that broke did so because the dentist said that I clench my teeth at night. He knows my life....he said stress has to be dealt with and when we sleep, we grind or clench. So, he saw two other teeth that have small fractures in them.....the two teeth right beside the one that broke. The dentist filled in with a "bonding" filling. Now, I will have to get a crown. One step at a time......

So, in two weeks, I am going back in for a complete exam. And, I will be fitted for a mouthpiece to wear at night, so I won't break the other teeth. And, we'll set the date for the crowning. I'll be QUEEEN!!!! LOL

I need a DEEP cleaning, etc. but, I am determined to do this. I've got to take care of myself in every way. People need me!! LOL I certainly don't want to do this again.

Thank you SOOOOO much for the kind words and encouragement. You gals are the absolute GREATEST!!!!!!

Happy Quilting!! And, please see your dentist! Hee hee......

Great news -- you're getting the tooth fixed, going in for cleaning and, best of all, will be crowned! :-)

I am so glad that it all went well. I knew you could do it. Soon I will call you Queen Paula!! Love it!

You survived! Yeah!! And soon you'll be Queen! Wow!
You must have great teeth to only have one small cavity. That teeth grinding will get ya. And yes you do need to take care of yourself when others are dependent on you or not. Remember you are God's temple and it is up to you to take care of it. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Paula, so glad you got thru going to the dentist. I have a similar problem with not being able to get numb. I always tell my dentist to give me all the novacaine that is legal to give. My daughter is studying to become a hygenist, so I'm sure she would be very proud of you. Stay safe and keep warm!

Excellent news Paula. I am so happy you survived the dentist appointment. Does that mean you are not a "chicken" any more? I am still one.

Congrats on surviving! LOL. I have eight crowns (due to my own negligence in the past) and I always think of singing that old hymn "Will There Be Any Stars - In My Crown" when I go to the dentist. LOL

I can relate, I've been having a toothache and have been putting off going because of my fear of dentistry. I'll try to be brave like you were and make an appointment. *Sigh*

I am so glad that things went well for you at the dentist. A trip there is never fun and you were courageous and brave. Great Job.

Yay! Sounds like you discovered it wasn't as bad as you remembered...just like me and getting on a plane! I think every now and again we have to try something again and see if we have the same experience!

Crowns are not so bad....I have several. Be sure and get your calcium too so that your teeth are not brittle from lack of it....
Have a good day visiting.

Having had recent dental problems too, I can sympathize with you.
You can do it! It's worth it.

Glad you survived the dentist. I need to go to, I'm a clencher (all the time!) but I just can't get up the nerve. I have been throug so much worse, but I am a little scared too!

I'm so glad everything went well. I hate the dentist too but I make myself go!

I think those of us who are old enough to be past a "certain age" all have bad feelings when it comes to visiting the dentist. I know I sure do. When I was a kid I went once a year, and it seems like I always had at least one and usually more than one cavity. Dentistry was painful back then - I don't care what anyone says - even with novocaine the drilling hurt. Today's high speed drills make such a difference, but because of my childhood memories I still hate to go to the dentist. Now there is no pain - I know there isn't - but the sound of that drill makes me believe there is pain. I go twice a year - and try to remember to floss everyday 9not something we did growing up) but I don't like it.

I did have to have deep cleaning because of the state of my gums from years and years of not flossing, and it wasn't bad at all. I don't like the novocaine shot at all, but once the mouth is dead the cleaning was a breeze. Much easier than when my mouth isn't dead!

You'll be just fine - especially once you get your mouth guard. My daughter wears one and she says it makes all the difference in the world. She was grinding away the tops of all her molars.

Hooray! You survived! I have to take a Xanax before I go to the dentist so I can stay relaxed. Helps me a lot.
