Red Strings Top - DONE!!!

I ended up with 96 blocks and I'm happy with this one. It measures 48x72. I think it will be the perfect lap sized quilt. One of the problems with most lap sized quilts, in my opinion anyway, is that they just aren't long enough. I want my arms and my feet covered when I'm watching a movie!!

Actually, I put this on my husband's hospital bed and it's just about perfect. He's rather spoiled to his white blanket, but the red sure brightens things up.

As a reward for finally finishing this one up, I am going to start making the other five Geese in the Forest blocks!! I love them!!!! I think I'm pumped about this quilt because I just have to make a few blocks here and there, and I'm using my favorite fabrics....Civil War Reproductions!!

Happy Quilting!!!!

I need to have a lap blanket that will cover my toes and snuggle under my chin. One thing I'm excited about with learning to quilt is that I can FINALLY have a lap blanket that fits my needs!

What a great job, I love it!! My favorite color is red. : ) And I totally agree with you on lap quilts.

I made one for my best friend for Christmas and made it an extra row of blocks longer, and once it was quilted and bound I folded the extra row to the back and stitched the edges--creating a huge pocket effect on the back for her to tuck her feet into! It was a great hit!

Lovely! It actually looks quite masculine.. I'm sure it is very nice on your hubby's bed.

I agree, most lap quilts are just not big enough (and I am not that big a person!) I want to be covered! I do love those red strings, they look great.

Oh Paula, I totally absolutely love this. I think it has to be the best red quilt on the entire planet!

My husband is a lot taller than me - so all the lap quilts I make for him and great for me - both Belle and I can fit under them!

This is beautiful! I love all the different shades of red. And I agree with you - a lap blanket must cover arms and feet. Can't have the toes sticking out. ☺

Love your red quilt ... red is my favorite color.

I, too, have fallen in love with Anina's BOM, Geese in the Forest. I haven't decided on a color wave yet but I do like her green/red idea.

Yep! Cover the toes and snuggle the nose! But instead of lap quilt, I call these a nap quilt. Cheery!

This is a great quilt because of all the shades of red. It's amazing how many there really are. You get 2 thumbs up from me.
Take care.

I am taking my scrap buckets to retreat next month. I hope to reduce them just a bit, enough to get the lids on anyway. So when I see a beauty of a quilt like this is just makes me more determined to corral the strings.

The reds are wonderful! I am currently planning a quilt for my brother who is 6 foot 5 inches tall (plus the quilt has to cover his size 14 feet!) Talk about a long quilt....

I do agree about the size of lap quilts. I get distracted easily when working on a quilt so I often end up making them much smaller than I'd originally intended. I'd like to make a few bigger quilts though, because as you said, many of them don't cover my toes! :)

I got behind on blogs, so I am just now seeing this red quilt. It's wonderful! I'm about to embark on a mostly red quilt myself, for our family room.
