Quilt Show was awesome

I had such a wonderful time at the Quilt Show. Since I didn't decide until the last minute that I was actually going, I thought I would be going alone.....not that I don't like that, but it's always more fun with friends. Dear Older Daughter and Dear Sister ended up coming to the Quilt Show with me for part of the day. And, of course, they brought Dear Niece, now 9 months old! What fun. She's such a sweet baby, lots of fun and didn't even fuss the entire time!!!

Anyway, I was also able to meet up with bloggy friend, Michele, from Calico Daisy (Michele, left...me, right, obviously). She was able to fly in and stay with her college room mate, so I was able to meet her too! Both were nice ladies and I enjoyed very much getting to visit with them, although the time flew too quickly. We were all ready to get back to shopping, looking and dreaming. Thanks so much Michele for making the effort to meet up with me.

I am always amazed at the wonderful quilts I see. I didn't spend as much time shopping this year, but honestly, I don't need more quilty stuff! I mean seriously. Here are some pics of the lovely quilts I did see! I was so glad that there were lots of traditional quilts, many of which were made from Civil War Reproduction fabrics. There were lots of art quilts, but they don't appeal to me quite as much....some, not at all, but don't tell anyone!

There were also quilts being shown from the Daughters of the American Revolution. Very old, very nice, wonderful quilts. From what I understand, many of these quilts have not been exhibited before, so it was special to be able to see them! We weren't allowed to take pics of those quilts....sorry.

And, don't worry, I did come home with some new fabric, just not as much as I might have been tempted to buy most years! I did find ALOT of great deals on Civil War Reproduction fabric and I just couldn't let them stay in that booth. Here are the pics of the half yard pieces I bought. And, no, you aren't seeing double. I bought two half yard pieces of one fabric since they were $1.50 each. Yeah, that's right $3.00 for one yard. All of these were cheap. Five or so were $1.50 each. One dozen were about $2.00 each. And the others were $2.75. For half yard cuts. Love it!!! So they were anywhere from $3.00 a yard to $5.50 a yard. And, yes, I love a sale!!

I also found a pattern that I thought would be a great choice for a scrap quilt. It's called Trellis by Debbie Aldridge. And, a pattern that I look at every year, but never would buy. It's a Little Bits Diamond Log Cabin. Usually I stand and look at it and think, "Never in a million years." But this year, I thought, why not challenge myself???? And I bought it. It finishes at 26 inches or so and has 10 million little logs. Of course, it is paper pieced. And, I may NEVER make it, but I OWN it!!! So, that's a step! And, I bought the Be Attitudes book by Art to Heart.

So, that's it for the pics of the quilt show. There are no pics of my sore shoulder and aching feet, but that comes from carrying around 14 yards of fabric and walking for 8 hours straight.....oh, but it was worth it.

Now, off to take Dear Younger Daughter to a birthday party and then, home again to relax and play with my new fabric.....just looking, no cutting for a while.
Happy Quilting Weekend!!!

I love the quilts. I think I'll be looking at these a few more times over the weekend. By the way, I'm with you on art quilts. I keep saying "art quilts is art, not quilts."

I tend to agree with you, I like the more traditional quilts the best too. You have shown some AWESOME ones. I am going back and clicking open each one. :-) THANKS!

I'm rooting for you to make that Trellis pattern.
